Neurodiversity-affirming therapy
Neurodiversity-affirming care aims to understand differences in attention, communication, sensory experience and learning without assuming those differences must be erased.
What might be useful to understand
Therapy may help with stress, relationships, identity or emotional skills while adapting session structure and communication. Qualified assessment of ADHD or autism is a separate process where needed.
There is no need to settle on a treatment model before contacting a practitioner. A first conversation can help clarify the question you want to explore, and a suitable therapist should explain options without promising a guaranteed result.
Choosing support that fits
Ask about experience with neurodivergent clients, accessibility needs and whether the therapist can adjust sensory conditions, pacing or written information.
Check qualifications, fees, confidentiality and whether appointments are available in person or online. If the work calls for medical assessment or specialist care, your GP can help explore alternatives.
Questions worth asking
Can we use a clear session agenda? How do you adapt communication?
You can ask for clear answers and take time to decide. Therapy should be a collaborative process grounded in informed consent and an appropriate professional relationship.
Taking the next step
If you would like to explore an appointment, you can send a contact-only enquiry. We ask only for the details needed to respond about a possible introduction. This does not book or confirm a clinical appointment.
For a diagnosis, urgent need or health concerns, start with your GP or an appropriate health service. If anyone is in immediate danger, call 000.
